Ziad AbdelTawab

Supreme Council of Culture member

Assistant Secretary-General for Information Systems and Digital Transformation at the Cabinet of Ministers, Arab Republic of Egypt (since September 2019). He has been a member of the Supreme Council of Culture since July 2025.

He serves as Rapporteur of the Digital Culture and Cultural Information Infrastructure Committee at the Supreme Council of Culture (since March 2020) and has been a member of the same committee since November 2023.

He is the First Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Esports Federation (2022),

a member of the Advisory Board for the "Digital Egypt" initiative (2022),

and a member of the Advisory Body for the Youth Research Program at the National Center for Social and Criminological Research (since 2024).

He also wrote a daily column for *Rose al-Yusuf* newspaper from 2018 to 2024.

He held several positions at the Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), including: Head of the IDSC and Head of the National Committee for Crises and Disasters (2018–2019); Director of the Communications and Networks Department and Deputy Head of the Information Technology and Projects Sector (2011–2018); and Communications and Networks Engineer (1995–2001). Additionally, he was a member of the Supreme Council for Cybersecurity (2014–2020) and a member of the technical team that contributed to localizing the Internet within Egyptian government entities during the 1990s. He authors numerous specialized articles for various magazines—such as *Al-Siyassa Al-Dawliya* (International Politics), *Al-Democratiya* (Democracy), *Al-Hilal*, *Al-Musawwar*, *Al-Ahram Al-Iqtisadi*, and *Lughat Al-Asr*—as well as for websites including *Al-Siyassa Al-Dawliya*, *Al-Ahram Al-Masa'i*, *Kalimatuna*, *Arabian Utopia*, and *Nabta* magazine.

He possesses over 30 years of experience in consulting, designing, and managing information systems, telecommunications networks, digital transformation solutions, information security, and artificial intelligence. His expertise extends to designing and managing systems for crisis and disaster management and government complaint handling, as well as developing information centers and conducting studies on decision support and development. He has served on examination committees for numerous Master’s and PhD theses in fields such as information technology, economics, political science, media studies, and specialized education.

He has participated in various judging panels for information and communication technology (ICT) projects and cultural competitions.

He has published eight books on digital transformation and the information age:

Supreme Council of Culture

The eighth edition, titled "Culture 2.0: Artificial Intelligence and Reshaping," 2026.

He holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology and Business Administration (2000) from Middlesex University in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering (1994) from Cairo University.

He has been honored by numerous institutions and bodies; notably, he was recognized by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture as one of the "Makers of Egyptian Identity" during the inaugural "Culture Day" in January 2025. Most recently, he received the Arab Media Excellence Award in Digital Media from the League of Arab States—in recognition of his role in raising awareness about digital media—on the sidelines of the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held at the League’s General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo in October 2025.
