Mohamed Derbala serves as Managing Partner for North Africa and Francophone Africa, where he leads the
Africa Hub, bringing more than 25 years of experience in government affairs and public policy across the
Middle East and Africa.
Derbala specializes in strategic advisory for investors, multinational corporations and major regional
institutions, particularly on market-entry strategies, alignment with regulatory frameworks, and effective
participation in policy development—helping enable sustainable growth in complex and continuously
evolving economic environments.
Through close engagement with senior decision-makers, Mr. Derbala supports investment facilitation and
strategic policy direction, helping clients build trusted, long-term relationships with governments, regulators
and key economic stakeholders. His professional strength lies in translating public-sector priorities into
practical, actionable business strategies that serve private-sector interests and expansion ambitions.
Mr. Derbala has built his extensive expertise through a distinguished career, including serving as a liaison
between the Egyptian Government and the U.S. Department of State, contributing to regional policy
coordination and strategic stakeholder engagement. Earlier in his career, he held senior advisory positions
within Egypt’s Ministry of Interior, developing a deep understanding of public-sector decision-making and
regulatory institutions. This background continues to strengthen his ability to engage effectively with
policymakers, with a sustained focus on advancing investment, reform and economic impact.
Under his leadership, Mr. Derbala has provided critical support to major global companies, including
Coca-Cola, Meta, TikTok, Kaspersky, Illumina, and Johnson & Johnson, enabling successful market entry and
expansion in Algeria. These efforts were supported by a strong local presence and a series of high-level
meetings with ministers and government officials, aimed at strengthening the investment environment and
facilitating business establishment in Algeria.
