Amr El Abd

Amr El Abd works at the intersection of entrepreneurship, capital, and public policy, with over 25 years building the institutions that empower founders across emerging markets.

In 2024, he was appointed Advisor to the Prime Minister of Egypt for Entrepreneurship, where he plays a central role in shaping national strategy to empower founders and drive innovation-led growth. He is currently co-designing and leading government initiatives to support the transformation of the entrepreneurship ecosystem. In 2025, he was appointed to the Board of Directors of MSMEDA, Egyptʼs apex authority for micro, small, and medium enterprise development.

Mr. El Abd serves as Regional Managing Director for MENA at Endeavor, the worldʼs leading network supporting high-impact entrepreneurs across 50+ markets. He assumed the regional role in 2023 after serving as CEO of Endeavor Egypt, where he led the organization through a strategic repositioning that expanded its founder base and deepened its institutional partnerships.

His policy and capital markets work spans more than a decade. As Senior Advisor to the World Bank, he supported the design and structuring of Egyptʼs first fund-of-funds program — a foundation he continues to build on in his current government role. He was previously the founding CEO and Vice Chairman of Egypt Ventures, the countryʼs first government-backed VC firm, and founding Chairman of Falak Startups, one of the regionʼs largest accelerators. He has also advised the Ministry of Investment on national startup and innovation policy.

In 2002, well before entrepreneurship became a policy priority in the region, Mr. El Abd launched the Entrepreneurs Business Forum – Egypt (EBF), the countryʼs first nonprofit dedicated to empowering founders. He has co-founded ventures across technology, logistics, consulting, and education. He holds a degree in Economics from Georgetown University.
