Professor Ahmed Morsy is the Founding Director of the AI Research Lab at the Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University and former Chair of the Biomedical Engineering department at the same University. He is the Founder of Nebras Technology, an Egyptian venture which grew to be a leading regional provider of healthcare information management solutions. He received his Ph.D. in Health Technology from Duke University, USA.
Dr. Morsy has held many lead and advisory roles in the healthcare technology management space. He was Lead R&D Engineer at Philips Medical Systems in Seattle, USA; and the General Manger of IBE Technologies. He later served as Senior Advisor on IT strategy planning to the Chairman of Egypt National Post Organization, Senior Director at SysDSoft (acquired by Intel), and Senior Program Manager at the Microsoft Innovation Center in Cairo leading the healthcare innovation team. He was also the Editor in Chief of the IEEE Pulse magazine, the flagship health technology magazine for the IEEE.
Dr. Morsy is currently the Vice Chair of the Healthcare Governance and Transparency Association and also a member of the Investment Committee of Egypt Ventures (national VC with an investment portfolio of over EGP 1 Bn).
Dr. Morsy has several international publications and 4 United States patents.
