Mehdi Taher

Mehdi Taher is the Head of Public Policy for North Africa at Meta, where he leads the company’s engagement on a broad range of policy issues across the region. His work spans regulation, technology policy, platform integrity, and innovation, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. He engages with governments, industry leaders, and civil society to shape responsible and forward-looking approaches to technology governance.

With a background as an economist and a former diplomat, Mehdi has worked across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe on political, economic, and strategic issues. He has held senior roles in the UK government, covering foreign policy, trade, security, and economic development. His experience includes engaging with international institutions, shaping policy initiatives, and navigating complex geopolitical and regulatory environments - expertise he now applies to the evolving landscape of tech policy.
