Amr El-Abassy is an accomplished investment and finance executive with over 20 years of
experience across venture capital, SME finance, and impact investment. He currently serves as
General Manager of EdVentures, a leading Corporate Venture Capital fund focused on early-stage
EdTech startups in Egypt and the MENA region. Throughout his career, Amr has led end-to-end
investment processes, designed acceleration programs, and built strategic partnerships with
governments, development institutions, and corporates.
Previously, he held senior roles at DAI/USAID Business Egypt, SEAF Impact Invesment Fund –
Washington DC, and MSMEDA (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency)
where he helped shape Egypt’s Venture and SME finance ecosystem. Amr holds an MBA in
Banking & Finance and is a graduate of the Venture Capital Executive Program at UC Berkeley.
He also holds multiple certifications in Private Equity, Climate Finance, and Business Model
Innovation. He brings deep expertise in fund governance, financial inclusion, and innovative
financing instruments tailored for emerging markets.
