SUMMARY:What Gets Funded? A Practical Investment-Readiness Workshop for C
 leantech Entrepreneurs
LOCATION:Auditorium - Workshops B\, Bibliotheca Alexandrina\, Alexandria
DESCRIPTION:With Fred Walti\, Maged Ghoneima\, Mohamed Hamza.\n\nWhat Get
s Funded? is a hands-on workshop organised by UNIDO and NGIN\,-in which E
gyptian cleantech startups assess their own investment readiness\, see th
eir companies through an investor's eyes and identify the specific work r
equired before fundraising. An angel investor\, a venture-capital investo
r and a successfully funded Egyptian cleantech founder provide the practi
tioner input\; the startups do the work. Each participating company compl
etes an Investment Readiness Checklist\, discusses priority gaps with pee
rs and practitioners\, and leaves with three concrete next actions.\nThe
workshop is designed as the practical continuation of Funding 101. Fundin
g 101 maps Egypt's funding ladder: what kinds of capital are available\,
which sources fit different stages and when an entrepreneur should approa
ch them. What Gets Funded? starts with the next question: if a company ap
proaches the right investor\, what evidence must it show\, what risks wil
l the investor examine and what readiness gaps must the founder close? Th
e session therefore does not repeat the financing-landscape discussion or
operate as a second investor panel.\nThis distinction matters in Egypt.
A cleantech venture may need independent technology validation\, access t
o test facilities\, a demonstration project and proof that a pilot can co
nvert into a paying customer. It may also face certification or permittin
 g requirements\, imported equipment and foreign-exchange exposure\, longe
r procurement and payment cycles\, significant capital expenditure\, manu
facturing or supply-chain questions and a financing need that does not fi
t conventional startup instruments. These are not only pitch-deck problem
 s\; they are evidence\, execution and risk-reduction problems.\n\nhttps:/
