Funding 101: The Investment Landscape for Cleantech Entrepreneurs in Egypt
Saturday 3 October · 4:30 pm – 5:15 pm
A practical discussion for Egyptian cleantech entrepreneurs on what they need to finance, which capital fits at each stage, which funders to approach, and what financial and non-financial support can help them move from prototype to commercial scale.
At the end of the session, an entrepreneur should be able to:
-Assess the company's current stage and financing need: distinguish among capital for R&D, validation, first deployment, working capital and scale.
-Identify the right capital and funding source: match stage, sector, capital requirement and purpose to the most relevant instruments and recognize options that are unlikely to fit yet.
-Distinguish a good business from a fit for a specific funder: understand how ticket size, return model, time horizon, mandate, risk appetite and repayment requirements shape the answer.
-Understand what must be proven next: identify the minimum technical, commercial, financial and governance evidence needed to become eligible for the next stage of capital.
-Use non-financial support strategically: recognize when technical assistance, technical due diligence, market intelligence, policy support, certification, governance or customer access is needed to unlock finance.
